MAKE A TREE GONG

MUSIC ACTIVITY

OBJECTIVE: To make gong sound instruments

MATERIALS: String, flower pots, hub caps, kitchen metal cooking pots, wooden spoons, chopsticks, empty coffee cans, small hand broom

DIRECTIONS: Tie a series of things that the children can gong to a tree. Tie some of the things mentioned above from the string. Get the children to experiment with different striking tools (wooden spoon, chopsticks, small hand broom, etc.) and different size gongs.

EXPAND: have the children graph the sounds. (exp. what make the loudest sounds, etc.)
